Austria's oldest city by charter - Enns received town rights in 1212, making it the first settlement on modern Austrian soil to be officially recognised as a Stadt. About 9,800 residents live at the confluence of the Enns river and the Danube. The 60-metre Stadtturm, completed in 1568, dominates the Hauptplatz and serves as the city's emblem.
